Yasmine Shemesh is a writer and music journalist from Vancouver. She specializes in interview profiles and long-form essays, and has a particular interest in 1990s and 2000s pop culture. 

Her work has appeared in publications including Billboard, MTV News, NYLON, ELLE Canada, Exclaim!, Recording Academy/the GRAMMYs, Alternative Press, MONTECRISTO Magazine, and RANGE.

Previously, she was the Music Editor at the Georgia Straight. 

Her profile on Witch Profit, On Gateway Experience, Witch Profit Transcends Time and Space, was included in Invisible Publishing’s “Best Canadian Music Writing” list. 

She sits on the juries of the Prism Prize and Polaris Music Prize (serving on the Grand Jury in 2021), through which she’s been invited as a guest speaker on CBC Radio, Canada’s national public broadcaster.
