Yasmine Shemesh is a freelance journalist with a music and pop culture beat.

Her interviews and essays have been featured in Billboard, MTV News, Observer, NYLON, ELLE Canada, Recording Academy/the GRAMMYs, Exclaim!, enRoute, FLARE, MONTECRISTO Magazine, and many more. She is a juror at the Polaris Music Prize, serving on the Grand Jury in 2021. Yasmine was the CITY Editor at BeatRoute Magazine, a local alt-monthly in Vancouver, from 2015 until it ceased printing as a street publication in 2020. She has a degree in English Literature from Simon Fraser University. 

She is currently working on a book project about MuchMusic.
